The BHS Band has been selected to represent the state of New Jersey in the 2013 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C.! This prestigious, nationally televised parade is over three hours long and will have over 10,00 participants. We need you to help us get to D.C. in 2013. We're asking everyone in Bayonne to donate the BIG amount of $1.00 - yes just $1.00. If EVERYONE in Bayonne helps out we will get our band to Washington D.C.! Simply complete the Donate to the BHS Band! form in the upper right hand side of the page. Choose any amount from $5.00 ( One dollar for every member of a small family) to $100 ( a generous donation! ) OR type in your own amount. $1.00 to $1,000!

Welcome to the online home of the Bayonne High School Band from Bayonne, New Jersey. Our band originated back in 1914 when brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments were added to the string orchestra. Soon after the Bayonne Band began performing at school sporting events and our Marching Band was born. Today our instrumental program consists of our Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and several smaller chamber ensembles including our (quite large) Percussion Ensemble. Our students perform at dozens of events throughout the year - civic events, sporting events, and our own concerts as well as at concert tours throughout our local community and New Jersey.

It seems that late Friday night the Band tumblr used for the DC trip was hacked and someone posted bad photos via the email posting method to the Tumblr. This Wednesday's biggest problem was The Washington Post March. This is one of Sousa's simpler marches, and we thought we'd be able to pull it together with the limited time we have, but we are struggling - especially with the limited instrumentation we have. As many parents already know from the student phone calls, our accommodations for the Philadelphia area are changing. Upon arriving to the Marriott Residence hotel listed on your itineraries, we discovered that the rooms, while very nice, had rooms that opened to the outside. Rehearsal Monday evening was a bit crazy - but it went well. We were missing quite a few students especially the elementary students. We began sight reading through some of the spring repertoire this past Monday. One of the new compositions we'll be doing is entitled Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Weber.
